Today I had my glucose test and a checkup. I should know the glucose results next week, hopefully Monday - fingers crossed! I can't live without my sweets! :) The checkup went well. Little lady is right on track measuring 29.5 cm (as I am 29.5 weeks along). I have gained 17lbs so far so no problem there. The heartbeat was good at 135-140bpm. We talked about our upcoming train ride to Santa Fe and Dr. Arroyo was excited for me. He didn't see any problem with a long trip and has said over and over he doesn't have any concerns and that I'm doing wonderful. He also said on my next visit (New Year's Day) we will be able to tell if she is head down. He thought she was head down today when we heard the heartbeat. So all good news:) Woohoo!!
I'm starting to feel the effects of the third trimester. Feeling very run down after and sometimes during work these days. I have been working 45hrs per week, and starting next week I will go down to 40hrs for the next month or so. After that, possibly down to 32hrs. We shall see!
Ryan and I have our Preparation for Childbirth class that is all day tomorrow, which I'm sure will be very informative. Then it is on to Christmas shopping - it is sneaking up on us so fast!
Have a great weekend everyone!

29 Weeks
This weekend we started putting the nursery together! Here are the Before Pictures:
Green wall was inherited...sorry about the unmade bed, mom
We still have things to add and make changes to, but here are some "early stages" pictures:
We will be painting the dresser white and putting a curtain where the closet door is
Then we just need to get the crib, some framed art for the walls and we should be in business! :)
We are excited for the holiday season!!
29 Weeks!
*Next Dr. appt is coming this Friday, the 14th. I'll be taking my glucose test (fingers crossed!) and getting a regular checkup. Then I will be going every 2 weeks.

25 Weeks!
Time is just flying by lately, and I never even did a sonogram post! Well as you all know now...It's a GIRL! :) I will try to scan a sonogram photo to upload later.
We're already into the 3rd trimester and growing slowly but surely. I have gained another pound or two. Still feeling pretty good. I feel her moving a lot these days, and the kicks are becoming more forceful. You can see them through my shirt. ...Ryan is hoping for a soccer player! :) Another new development is that it's getting a little more difficult to bend over to put my socks on, shave, pick up babies all day, etc. Lol. Have also started to get a little more tired this past week.
Our next doctor appointment is coming this Wednesday, however I will just be seeing a nurse practitioner to make sure everything is still going fine. Should be a quick appointment.
We are very excited for the upcoming holiday season! We will be traveling to Wichita for Thanksgiving, then taking a train to Santa Fe, NM over Christmas to meet up with Ryan's extended family. Then after the New Year we will head back to Wichita to have Christmas with my family. Can't wait to see everyone!
January and February will be filled with finalizing preparations for the baby and before we know it, she will be here!

20 Weeks
We are officially halfway through the pregnancy! Seems like it's flying by and going very slow at the same time, lol. We can't wait to find out the sex at the sonogram on Thursday! Then we can finish registering and continue planning the nursery. However, I won't be posting the outcome immediately. We are going to tell family in person since we are going home this weekend. :)

4 Months!
3rd Doctor Appt:
Sept. 12th, 2012 - I've gained 4 pounds! Everything is looking good. The heartbeat was at 155bpm, and Dr. Arroyo said the baby moved when he pushed the doppler onto my stomach! I also met with the benefits lady who gave me info on classes and pre-registering with the hospital. Otherwise, nothing new; it was a quick appointment. Our sonogram is scheduled for October 11th, and we will find out the sex! When the doctor was checking the heartbeat, he did say "boy" is what came to his mind. :) Then he said not to tell anyone that because people seem to think 'well he's the doctor, he must have some insight,' when really he's just guessing, lol. (Feel free to leave your guesses in the comments! - We'll find out in a month who is right!)
I've been feeling good, no more nausea, just the usual gas or cramping feelings. The heartburn and back aches that I complained about earlier haven't been bad either lately. Sleeping is getting slightly more uncomfortable since I'm a big back-sleeper and at this point I'm not supposed to sleep on my back anymore. So I tend to wake up a lot at night to roll over, making sure I don't go to my back by default. The main issue I'm having to deal with is drinking enough water throughout my busy days at work and subsequently being able to have someone cover me for restroom breaks as often as I'm needing them. SIGH.....
I also bought my first pair of maternity jeans from the gap last week, and they are COMFORTABLE! Oh man, they're nice. And I love that they look like normal stylish skinny jeans. :) I am planning on going to Target this weekend in search of maternity dress pants for work, as I am now having to wear belly bands with everything (thanks, Mom!) It seems I have grown fast in the last week or two.
And for the final news, I believe I felt the baby moving last night for the first time! Well, the first time I'm sure it was the baby at least...I've been feeling things for a few days, I just didn't pay a whole lot of attention because I didn't know if I'd feel it this early and it could have been gas bubbles, etc. But last night Patches was laying on my stomach and there was a definite "pushing" feeling on my stomach from inside right where the baby is. I've been feeling some movement today as well. :) Ryan and I got excited, but you can't really feel it from the outside yet. I can't wait for the look on his face when he gets to feel it!
Alright, well I think that is all of my updates for now. Oh, and my cravings, if anyone is curious, have been corndogs and chocolate milk:) Don't worry, I've been eating healthy things, too...

Sorry the pictures aren't great. I've been having to use my camera at work so we've been taking these with Ryan's phone.

Gone Public!
We are officially 3 months along and have announced Baby D to "the world" via Facebook, lol.
Today was our second doctor appointment, and we heard the heartbeat!! It was so crazy. I was grinning like an idiot:) And although I couldn't see Ryan's face while I was lying down, he said he was too:) ...I was also trying to hold back the laughter since the doppler was tickling my stomach! But anyway, hearing it makes it more real - there's actually a baby in there! The doctor said it sounded good and strong at 160bpm. He also showed the difference between my heartbeat and the baby's (and assured us it wasn't twins;).
My next appointment will be in another month. Nothing exciting, just more peeing in a cup and making sure everything's on track.
Not having any crazy cravings yet. I naturally have the hankering for ice cream a lot, but that's ok since I still haven't gained weight;) Some pants seem to be getting tighter but not much visible change yet.
Still been feeling fairly good minus the extreme exhaustion when I get home from work. Struggled sans-medicine through a cold last week, then felt pretty horrible yesterday (stomach and head-wise), but am much better now and am looking forward to these 2nd trimester energy bursts I've been hearing about...
Until next time!!
Thanks for all your love and support! :)

Happy News!
The handful of people who read this blog already know....
We're having a baby!! :)
So I will attempt to update this blog with any news of our upcoming arrival.
How it began:
We found out on Friday, June 15th - 2 days before Father's Day. I was planning on going out with friends the next day and drinking would definitely be involved...so I thought I better make sure I wasn't pregnant before consuming all this alcohol. I didn't have any symptoms and didn't think I was, so imagine my surprise when the double line showed up! I collected myself, went down to show Ryan...who stared at me for a while saying "nuh-uh.....no way.... really?" as I'm showing him the stick. I then quickly went to the store to get another test (different brand even just to make sure...) and sure enough, another positive! THEN, not wanting to get my hopes up, I looked online at the odds of a false positive (let alone 2 false positives) and soon felt pretty confident I was indeed pregnant! I started researching ob-gyns and Ryan went into the manly protector role listing off all the things we needed to get done: make a will, figure out insurance paperwork, get the room ready, trim the trees in the backyard, go grocery shopping for special "pregnant lady" food....
First Dr. Visit:
Thursday, July 12th - Kansas City Women's Clinic - Dr. Errick Arroyo
It went great. I peed in a cup, they took some blood, checked my uterus (right on track with 7 weeks) and gave me some info and more prenatal samples. He said I should strive to gain 30-35 lbs by the end (I thought this was high...we'll see), and that we will hear the heartbeat at our next appointment in a month!
All in All:
Things are going great so far! Dealt with some crummy "morning" sickness during vacation the other week, but since then it's been much better. Feeling some cramping sporadically and a general bloated feeling. The fatigue is just now starting to kick in. But I'm hoping my crazy job will be a blessing instead of a curse...so far the constantly-moving, fast-paced days of preschool life haven't let me think twice about how I'm feeling, lol.
And as a jumping off point for all the pregnancy pictures to come, here's a first official must-stand-to-the-side-and-show-how-I'm-not-showing-yet picture.

Spring Time
I never post updates, but I wanted to share a couple pics of our beautiful trees! I just love the colors, but unfortunately the flowers fall off pretty quickly.
I also tried my first DIY craft idea from Pinterest - link here
I think it turned out pretty well:)
Along with trying to be crafty, my current obsession is colorful vintage furniture and unique frames. (Pinterest is my best friend.)

Not much else is going on these days. A lot of working and a lot of lounging around on the weekends...
