Addison - 2 Months

Technically Addison is 9 weeks now! At her 2 month checkup yesterday, here are her stats:

Weight: 9 lbs 3.5 oz (13%)
Height: 21.25 inches (12%)
Head: 14.75 inches (18%)

So still very small but great growth since her last appointment! We discussed her spitting up and gas issues and have now gotten her on a special formula for spit up. It seems to have made a difference already! She seems happier, is staying awake longer, sleeping a little better, the spit up has significantly reduced and she doesn't suck a lot of air and drool a ton while drinking her bottles. We are also going to try a probiotic to help with the gas discomfort. All in all, a huge improvement already! As long as it continues, fingers crossed!!! Thank goodness she's not just a huge drama queen afterall. :)

She also survived her first round of immunizations. 3 shots and 1 by mouth. She of course screamed so hard she wasn't making a sound for a while, but she actually calmed down a lot faster than I thought she would. And last night she didn't get a fever and wasn't particularly cranky, just very tired. She's very sensitive where the shots were given, but I'd say she handled it like a champ. :)

Her development otherwise is right on track. She's smiling, tracking with her eyes, batting at toys and cooing. One thing we are really working on is tummy time and adjusting her head/neck because she is getting flat on one side. It is mild so far and isn't torticollis, but it is something we work on with her.

By her next appointment at 4 months, she should be laughing, holding her head up completely and grasping objects. Exciting stuff!

Addison's 1 Month!

Hey all!

As you all know, she is here! I hope to come back and write a post about her birth story, I just don't have the motivation to do it right now, lol. So I'm going to start with what's going on now.

Our little Addie bean turned 1 month yesterday and we went to her 1 month check up today. She is now 6 lbs 15.5 oz (up from 5 lbs 10.8oz at birth and 5 lbs 1 oz 2 weeks ago!) and 20 inches (up from 17.5in at birth). She is still only in the 4th and 11th percentile respectively but it is great progress! Also, her head measurement is 14 inches (14%) up from 13 inches (.9%).

She is currently eating 3oz of formula every 3hrs during the day and sleeping 3-5 hours at night. We are still having some issues with gas pain but have switched to Enfamil Gentlease formula and are using gas drops. Hopefully it continues to get better, poor girl.

We are continuing to work on getting her adjusted to days and nights by having her nap with the lights on, noises, etc. and going to sleep at night with a bedtime routine, minimal lighting/talking and the sounds machine. The past 2 nights have been great so hopefully she keeps it up!

She is starting to be much more alert and wide-eyed during her wake times. She loves to move around and seems very strong! She tries to roll to one side and she lifts her head up a lot. In the next month we are expecting her to track objects with her eyes, start using more purposeful movements with her arms and smile for real! (Cannot WAIT for that smile!)

37 Weeks

37 Weeks!

Full Term!

Feb. 6th: Dr. appointment went well. Stats: weight gain - 26lbs, blood pressure - 132/84, belly measurement - 37cm, faint trace of protein in my urine sample but Dr. said that's normal.

I asked about my stomach muscle pains when I lay down and he said that's just from being thin and my muscles having to stretch so much. Last weekend I had slight period-like cramping briefly (possibly braxton-hicks) but none since then. I haven't had any signs of labor yet but the Dr. said that doesn't really matter and I could still go into labor at any time.

Ryan and I just have a few little things to finish up around the house this weekend and then we're ready any time! (...I'm ready now.)

36 Weeks

Today was the first of my weekly appointments. And here are the stats: Her head is still down (yay!!), heartbeat was 135bpm, I measured at 35-36cm, blood pressure was 130/80, I tested negative for anemia and had the Strep B test done.

So far no labor pains or Braxton Hicks contractions. Just the usual back aches and uncomfortableness that goes with having her in my ribs as well as pushing down low. I'm still sleeping fairly well, considering, but it is getting more uncomfortable.

Ryan and I are continuing to check things off our to-do lists. We installed the car seat this past weekend, did some cleaning, packed the bags and plan on freezing some meals next weekend. And all that is left to do for the nursery is hang some pictures and paint the dresser.

Ryan and I are enjoying our last few weeks just the two of us, but we are both ready for a little excitement. :) We'll be relieved when the wait is over. I don't think it will seem real until we are holding her...

35 Weeks

Only 5 weeks to go...

I had my 34 week appt last week and everything is still looking good. I measured at 33.5cm. My next appt is next Monday, the 28th and I'll have the Strep B test. After that, I will go every week.

We have been busy getting everything done. Cleaning the house, finishing up the nursery, buying the last of our needed items, and getting paperwork ready. It seems never-ending but the to-do lists are getting shorter.

Little lady is gradually getting bigger, and as room gets tighter in there, her movements are more intense and visible. Some days it feels like she is up in my lungs and some days it feels like she may fall out. ;P  So far, I am still doing ok working 8 hour days. I am working on several things I need to get done before I go on maternity leave so that my babies are well taken care of while I'm gone. :)

Until next time!

33 Weeks

Getting back in the swing of things after the holidays...

Over Christmas, Ryan and I (and Baby D) took the train to Santa Fe, NM to meet up with Ryan's family. It was a great trip in a beautiful town. We went on a ghost tour walk, saw some movies, visited the local shops on the plaza and participated in the annual Canyon walk on Christmas eve. I even got my first facial and tarot card reading! Can't wait to take the little lady there in a couple years.

For New Year's Eve, we hung out at Luke and Megan's house with a couple friends and their kids. It was great to get together, as the bar/party scene isn't really on the plate these days. :)

This past weekend, I traveled back to Wichita for my family's Christmas (Ryan had to work all weekend :(  It was so wonderful seeing everyone - my brother Tony and his boyfriend John flew in from D.C., Mark, Aimee and the kids drove up from Georgia, and David and Haley came over from their house. It was a great weekend full of food, eggnog, gifts and laughs.

My last Dr. appointment was on New Year's Eve at 32 weeks. Everything is still looking great. Heartbeat was 145bpm. Blood pressure, weight gain (20lbs) and belly measurements (31-32cm) are all on track. Her head is down and will hopefully stay that way :) Oh, and no gestational diabetes for me, woohoo!

My next appointment is next Monday, the 14th. Then I'll be meeting with a pediatrician that was recommended by a couple parents at work on the 18th.

I'm still feeling pretty good. Just the usual heartburn, back aches and shortness of breath as the baby gets bigger. I get tired more easily, but am doing fine at work so far with my 40hrs.

In the next few weeks, we will be finishing up the nursery, installing the car seat, packing our bags... and trying not to freak out. :)

Dr. Appt - Almost 30 Weeks

Today I had my glucose test and a checkup. I should know the glucose results next week, hopefully Monday - fingers crossed! I can't live without my sweets! :)  The checkup went well. Little lady is right on track measuring 29.5 cm (as I am 29.5 weeks along). I have gained 17lbs so far so no problem there. The heartbeat was good at 135-140bpm. We talked about our upcoming train ride to Santa Fe and Dr. Arroyo was excited for me. He didn't see any problem with a long trip and has said over and over he doesn't have any concerns and that I'm doing wonderful. He also said on my next visit (New Year's Day) we will be able to tell if she is head down. He thought she was head down today when we heard the heartbeat. So all good news:) Woohoo!!

I'm starting to feel the effects of the third trimester. Feeling very run down after and sometimes during work these days. I have been working 45hrs per week, and starting next week I will go down to 40hrs for the next month or so. After that, possibly down to 32hrs. We shall see!

Ryan and I have our Preparation for Childbirth class that is all day tomorrow, which I'm sure will be very informative. Then it is on to Christmas shopping - it is sneaking up on us so fast!

Have a great weekend everyone!
